Cleaning up Hong Kong’s Bus Fleet

PRESS INVITATION

Hong Kong’s franchised bus fleet is one of the biggest contributors to roadside pollution, contributing some 40% of toxic emissions during peak periods. Despite increasing public concern about the health impacts of air pollution, and the creation of a new fund to encourage cleaner public transport, the bus companies appear unwilling to clean up, and the Government has been slow to implement mandatory measures. The public is also concerned about the prospect of increasing bus fares.

Civic Exchange is holding a press briefing to explain the current framework of bus operations and to explain some of the solutions. Members of the media are warmly invited to attend.
